Armenians all over the world have been deeply astonished by the events that have taken place in Armenia for the past few years, but while discussions about the future of Armenia continue to be extremely crucial in Diaspora, some of the issues that we face on a day-to-day basis in Los Angeles reveals that it is also time to engage in more serious conversations about our community here in LA.
Our challenges concern a wide range of topics in different layers of the community. Some are about policies and strategies on a city or county level, some concern culture and education in schools and social settings and some involve the impact of technology and environment on our lives.
With the increasing number of the Armenian population in greater Los Angeles area, many of these matters will continue to grow and perhaps turn into larger problems, however if we care to look through these issues with a critical eye, chances are good that we, both individually and collectively, might be able to come up with solutions and to address them in advance. But first we need to identify which of our concerns needs immediate attention. In order to do so, we go out and ask the Armenians of LA what they think are the most significant challenges of their community.
In this video we went among the participants of the Innovate Armenia festival in USC campus to ask them what they think are the major challenges of the Armenian community in Los Angeles. To give some ideas, we also suggested some community concerns for them to rate, by the order of significance, with one being the least and 5 being the most significant.
What do you think are the main challenges of the Armenian community in Los Angeles?
